Executive Director
SPI is a non-profit play space with a focus on science and technology. The mission of SPI is to enhance the Knox County community by bringing people of all ages together to explore science, technology, and human interaction through play. The Executive Director provides institutional vision, strategic leadership, and effective management. This position includes significant fundraising and development.

This is a part time position that averages 20-25 hours per week.

Basic Responsibilities:
Management and Administration
  • Manage the SPI staff and volunteers
  • Work closely with Board to develop and execute strategic plan for SPI
  • Develop annual and projected budgets  
  • Use best practices from the industry (ASTC)
Resource Development
  • Establish and implement strategic fundraising plan
  • Develop individual and business relationships to increase giving
  • Coordinate special events
  • Oversee and write grant proposals
Marketing
  • Create and implement marketing plan
  • Manage strategic partnerships and represent SPI in the community
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, with at least 4 years of management experience preferred
  • Understanding of science and passionate about informal learning
  • Demonstrated success with marketing, public relations, and fundraising with a non-profit
  • Must be collaborative, team-oriented, flexible and willing to learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills required
