FREQUENTLY ASKED MEMBERSHIP QUESTIONS
Q: I am a grandparent who would like to regularly bring my grandkids to SPI Spot. Their parents would probably not come as often with the kids as me and/or my significant other. What should I do?
A: Our family memberships are intended for households. If you are not a custodial grandparent living in the same household with the children - even if you regularly provide care - we recommend that you purchase a membership for the family living in the same household and add yourself as an additional named member for $10. Anyone not named on a household membership should expect to pay a daily admission fee when they visit SPI Spot or any of our reciprocal partner institutions, even when accompanying loved ones who have a SPI membership. You may also opt to purchase individual admission vouchers for others who will occasionally accompany the children. Membership benefits are not transferrable to extended family members! But, you may opt to purchase individual gift admission vouchers/guest passes for others who will occasionally accompany the children.
Q: I have custody of children living in my household. What should I do?
Caregivers who have custody of children living in their household would be named on a standard household membership and - if they wish - may choose to add one or both of the non-custodial parents to the membership for an additional cost of $10 per person. You may also opt to purchase individual admission vouchers for others who will occasionally accompany the children.
Q: What if the parents will sometime accompany the kids and sometimes OTHER caregivers (grandparents or other regular babysitter) will - which membership should we buy?
A: A caregivers not living in the household should decide if they'd rather purchase a standard family membership for each of their locally-based adult children's families and pay for their own daily admission when bringing the kids or if they would rather add themselves to the relevant household membership for an additional cost of $10.
PARENTS OR GRANDPARENTS NOT NAMED ON A PURCHASED HOUSEHOLD MEMBERSHIP MUST PAY THE DAILY ADMISSION.
