Updates regarding SPI summer camps:
On 5/14/2020, Governor DeWine shared news that summer camp were cleared to proceed in Ohio. Our team reviewed guidelines from the State to come up with a new plan addressing several complicated variables. SPI camps will proceed this year for smaller groups of kids and with fewer sessions. We prioritized those families who had already registered in April, and added a small number of additional spots. Please scroll down to see the updated descriptions and dates and register your kids as soon as possible at spi.jumbula.com to ensure a spot!

Summer Fun Camp - FULL

Spy Camp -  UPDATE: 1 camp spot just became available!
July 6-10 from 1pm to 4pm; completed 2nd through 4th grade
In this camp we'll investigate the science of spying. How observant are you? Can you crack codes, make tools, and escape tricky situations? Or are you too nervous to carry out a secret mission and save the day?! If you're game to try -- this camp is for you!

Yuck Camp: The Science of Gross Things - FULL
July 6-10 from 9am to 12pm; completed 1 through 4th grade
Do you think gross stuff is cool? Great, then this camp is for you! Skin blisters, boogers, bacteria, and barf are just a few of the things we'll explore and make (edible?) models of!

Let’s Experiment with Art - FULL
July 13-17 from 1pm to 4pm; completed K through 7th grade
Painting, weaving, and collage… oh, my! Discover your favorite way to create art at this camp. Create scratch art. Paint like a famous artist while experimenting with color. Use your imagination to create artist trading cards and trade with other campers… and more! This camp will inspire a love for art and spark creativity. Come create with us!

Go for the Gold! UPDATE: 2 more camp openings!
July 13-17 from 9am to 12pm; completed K through 7th grade
What does it take to become an Olympic athlete? Learn about two important aspects -- exercise and nutrition -- as you compete in our SPI Olympic games. Your trainers will help get your mind and body in the best possible shape! You'll also learn about the cool physics of sports!

Animals All Around Us - FULL
July 13 – 17 from 9am to 12pm; completed K through 4th grade
July 20 – 24 from 9 am to 12pm; completed K through 4th grade
What can we learn from animals? How can we take care of them? Children will learn about three groups of animals: working and farm animals; wildlife; and pets. Each day an animal will come visit the camp, and children will learn about them and meet them.

Movie Magic - CANCELLED
July 20-24 from 9am to 12pm; completed 4th through 6th grade
Explore the technical origins of motion pictures while making your own! Go behind the scenes to learn the science of filmmaking. Using animation stands and ordinary household objects, you will turn your big ideas into a reality. Set a story on the moon. Make your toys sit up and sing. Transform a sputtering car engine into the roar of a mighty dinosaur… with eight heads! Why not? It’s your imagination. Let it run wild — one frame at a time.

All camps are $60 this year ($55 with current SPI Annual Member discount). Scholarships available for all qualifying families meeting income guidelines. See SPI’s website at www.spi-mountvernon.org for more information.
